Carrying on from yesterday’s post, as promised, below is one of my favourite green smoothie recipes. Even if you are a ‘virgin green smoothie drinker’ I can almost guarantee that you are going to like this one.
There are 5 steps to take to successful smoothie making:-
- Choose your green leaves (spinach, silverbeet, kale etc);
- Choose your base (coconut water, purified water or apple juice);
- Choose some fruit (no more than two if you don’t want to overdose on sugar);
- Add some zing (lemon or lime juice);
- Blend!
My mango and spinach smoothie went something like this:-
Handful of ice, cup of water, squeeze of a lemon, bunch of spinach and a whole peeled and chopped mango. Blend! Easy eh?! I love to add ice to my smoothies, makes them feel like more of a treat. Add more or less water depending on how thick you want your smoothie to be. If it’s too powerful, use less greens next time until you get used to it.
ENJOY!

That is one of my favourites!
Hey Sammy, I’m a virgin juicer and can’t wait to try the mango spinach. First things first, I have to purchase a good blender that will crush my ice up. Any recommendations on good juicer brands?
Yay, glad you are hopping onto the ‘smoothie train’…choo, choo! My blender is an ‘Omni Blender’ type it into google, there will be places round Sydney that stock that brand. It works just as well as a the king of all benders i.e. Vitamix but its half the price ($400). If that is too expensive, then there are cheaper brands out there that can chop ice too but just won’t be as hard wearing. If you look on the side of the box it will tell you if the particular one you are looking at can chop ice or not. Happy shopping and let me know how you get on xx
Ps. Love your logo! Reminds me of your very special wedding day with all the granny smiths
Glad you like the ‘apple’ and that it reminded you of my wedding, that was one of the reasons why I chose a green apple for the logo (besides the fact that I LOVE green and apples are good for you!)
